GIS Map Library

Mukundara Hills Tiger Reserve maps for public landscape understanding.

These maps are built from public GIS layers and official documents. They explain broad geography, terrain, hydrology, elevation and habitat context without exposing sensitive wildlife locations.

Important Update

Bhainsrodgarh is shown as an MHTR core addition

The newer Tiger Conservation Plan says Bhainsrodgarh Sanctuary was added to Mukandra Hills Tiger Reserve by order 4854336 dated 05.10.2023 and made part of the core tiger reserve. These maps reflect that public planning context while still using OSM geometries for broad orientation.

Boundary

Boundary and Landscape Context

Shows the public MHTR boundary context, including Bhainsrodgarh Wildlife Sanctuary as a core addition noted in the newer Tiger Conservation Plan.

Use this for: Use this first when explaining where MHTR sits in the wider Kota, Bundi, Chittaurgarh and Jhalawar landscape.

Terrain

Terrain and Ridge Relief

Uses DEM-derived shaded relief with metre-based elevation bands and high/low callouts to make the ridge-to-valley structure visible.

Use this for: Use this to explain why slopes, valleys and long linear ridges shape habitat, visibility, patrol access and movement, with approximate elevation context.

Water

Water Systems and Hydrology

Highlights Chambal-linked rivers, reservoirs, canals and drainage lines around the reserve, with key public water-body names labelled.

Use this for: Use this for dry-season stress, wetland value, riparian corridors and water-linked movement context.

Elevation

Elevation Zones and Contours

Classifies local elevation bands in metres, adds 50 m contours, and marks representative high-ridge and lower-valley points.

Use this for: Use this when discussing high ridges, lower valleys, drainage floors and terrain-driven microhabitats with approximate DEM elevation values.

Land Cover

Land-cover and Habitat Context

Uses ESA WorldCover 2021 to show broad tree cover, shrubland, grassland, cropland, built-up area, bare ground and water.

Use this for: Use this as a habitat base layer, then interpret fine habitat details with field notes and forest records.

Source and Safety Notes

Public maps, not sensitive field locations

The map stack uses public data and official planning documents: MHTR TCP, OpenStreetMap, ESA WorldCover, Mapzen/AWS Terrarium elevation tiles and geoBoundaries. The maps are for public interpretation and should not be treated as legal survey demarcation.
